Drone Pilot Training Course
For one to gain the necessary qualifications needed to fly a drone, they need to pass a certified drone pilot training program. If you want to fly a drone for commercial purposes, you need to be at least 18 years of age.
The important thing to note here is that you should attend a drone training course in a certified institution.
It is recommended to get training from a CAA approved institution.
There are various drone training institutions in this country, with different training options on offer — it all depends on what you want to achieve.
In the course of drone pilot training, your respective trainer will take you through the introduction phase for around two days. During this stage, you will discuss how the manual operations will be conducted and the study objective.
In some cases, ground school is characterized by computer-based virtual learning and ends up with an exam.
Next, after a successful ops manual check has been done, you will face a flight test. If you pass this flight assessment, you will be issued with a certificate of recommendation. This gives you the go ahead to apply for a license.
It is important to note that during this stage, there is some paperwork involved.
In drone training, the flight test is elementary and effectively shapes the pre-flight inspections, mission planning, performing accurate controlled flights in both attitude and GPS.
All this while maintaining the visual line of sight at all times, conducting return to the home procedure, real-time monitoring of drone status, and shutting down the aircraft safely.
Drone Certification
You will need a drone license if you want to use the drone for non-recreational purposes. This could be for commercial use or other related purposes. However, if you plan to fly the drone strictly for fun, you don’t need a drone license.
